Near Disaster

Mary and Daddy Before Disaster Almost Struck Aug 25

Anybody been stranded at sea? Well, Mary and I can count that among our experiences now. While Jet skiing yesterday (see photo above) our jet ski decided to break down about a half mile from the dock.

We were on a river, so the current at first floated us toward home but after awhile we started to drift toward the Bay. We were trying to flag down other boaters - me standing up and waving my arms while blowing a whistle. We were discouraged when some boaters chose not to stop and help.

After about 30 minutes adrift, a wonderful couple boated up on us and threw us a line. they towed us back to the dock. They had a cute dog in the boat - wearing a yellow bandanna.

Mary was a brave little girl. She sat calmly and didn't get scared. At one point she said "I already miss mommy" and later said "next time everyone is coming with us."

Needless to say, it was a scary experience, even though we never lost sight of land. May and I wont be doing much boating the rest of the week - only because the jet ski is broken!

We are OK - on land and very happy. Planning to spend a lot of time in the pool.

Am I the only one who comments? In Havasu, we call jet skis LAKE LICE because they are a problem. But the photo looked like you were having fun before you broke it.

The DiMartinos in MA read the site! Charlie loves to see Mary and Nora on the "puter".
